| Customer Reviews: Two out of three ain't bad... August 23, 2007 Lawrence T. Bennett (Utica, OH United States) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Both "IL2 Sturmovik" and "Pacific Fighters" work fine on my laptop (Gateway, Core 2 with 2GB memory), but "Lock On" refuses to display the screen correctly while attempting to play the game [intro, setup, and other screens work fine]! I haven't pursued support, yet, so I don't know the ultimate outcome of the problem.
Yes, both IL2 and PF have a strong learning curve. But, as you become more proficient, the games become more enjoyable. I wouldn't expect to climb into a real fighter aircraft and become an ace on day one, why would anyone expect a realistic simulator to be any different???
Graphics, controls and aircraft behavior are awesome. I've quickly learned how to: stall (and I'm learning how to correctly recover), crash during takeoff, blackout in hard turns, get shot to shreds, fail to bailout before impact, and otherwise tear my aircraft apart like an expert. I now have one kill to my credit, and I expect to be an ace in just a couple more months!
It might be easier if I had the actual aircraft, but I can't afford the maintenance!
GREAT games!!!
Good games January 12, 2009 winglet13 (FL USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Lock On and IL2 are the best of modern and piston fighter simulators respectively. This collection provides great value with a low price.
Lock-On Greatness August 11, 2010 Ryn Wold (MO, USA) I bought this set purely for Lock-On, because it is the easiest way to get a legal copy of Lock-On here in the states. IL-42 is an excellent game, but I already owned a copy, and I honestly haven't even played Pacific Fighters. But basing this set purely on Lock-On, it is still an excellent value.
Worst Flight sims ever....except LOMAC July 7, 2010 Glenn Miller (Ca,USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The whole IL-2 series are some of the worst flight sims ever made....The main thing you buy a combat FLIGHT sim is for the flight..the flight modeling in this game ,I do mean game because it is far from a sim,is based on one mans ultimate approval...Olig Maddox so the flight and damage modeling is based on what he likes not real life.So if you want to fly around in an aircraft that feels as if the CG is waaaay to far aft this is your game but,if you are looking for something that replicates a real aircraft....look elsewhere. I bought all of mine to play with some friends but decided not to continue with this and now use the games as coffee coasters on my end-tables. not worth any amount of money.
Does not work on Windows Vista x64 or Windows 7 x64 February 28, 2010 Ray (Florida) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this 3 pack from another retailer for 5 bucks and thought that I was getting an awesome deal, I couldnt wait to play the games on my PC. Once I received them and tried to Install them on my Windows 7 x64 computer however I was sadly disappointed to find out that they didnt work. I tried several things to get them to work like running them in compatibility mode for Windows XP, Running them in Administrator mode with Windows XP compatibility, and nothing worked.
I only got one of the 3 games to launch the installer, the other two would try to load the installer for a long time and never launch the installer even if I went in the cd and clicked on the setup.exe file. The game that I did manage to get to install didnt run correctly either, and I made the mistake of saying that I would register later after the installation finished which caused the installer to install a bugged reminder program on my computer that would remind me to register the game every time my computer rebooted. I tried to uninstall the game to get rid of this registration bug but that didnt solve the problem so I eventually just reformatted the computer.
I have heard that people who purchase the games on steam dont run across the same issues as the people with the CD copys due to the copy protection used in the CD copies but even the steam purchased copies dont run 100% fine on x64 operating systems.
